Recently I have started making my nieces and nephews a beach towel for their birthday. It is such a great gift because they are easy to customize for a boy or a girl. Plus they should never get it mixed up with someone else's since it has their name right on it.
As far as I know my those who have received one so far have loved them. I like to put a name on it and add a little patchwork for fun. The other reason I think it is a great gift is because it can be used all year long. Even if you live in cold iceberg weather your kids still need to shower.
